The founders’ story behind why we built Perch — and who we’re building it for.
Perch was founded by two longtime collaborators who have spent more than a decade building award-winning digital products, platforms, and customer experiences together.
Over the years, we’ve launched software, websites, marketplaces, and digital businesses across multiple industries. But Perch started from a much more personal place.
After launching my own vacation rental, I quickly realized something felt broken. While platforms like Airbnb made it easy to get started, they also made it difficult to truly own the business I was building. Guests became Airbnb’s customers, not mine. Every booking came with fees. Every policy change, algorithm update, or platform decision had the potential to impact my business overnight.
I remember thinking:
“There has to be a better way.”
Not just for me, but for the thousands of independent hosts who pour their time, creativity, and capital into creating incredible guest experiences.
We believe vacation rental owners deserve more than a listing. They deserve a brand. They deserve a direct relationship with their guests. And they deserve the opportunity to build a hospitality business that becomes more valuable over time.
